This session will give participants a good knowledge of sleep processes and the physiology of sleep, as well as common sleep disorders in children including sleep apnoea. 

Learning Outcomes

This training course will give participants a clear understanding of: 

  • Sleep processes and the psychology and physiology of sleep 

  • Sleep disorders common in children and adolescents  

  • How sleep disordered breathing affects sleep quality, and the importance of treatment 

  • The benefits and limitations of pharmaceutical melatonin 

  • The challenges that can face children with additional support needs when it comes to sleep, with a focus on epilepsy, FASD, autism and ADHD.
